Mid Mountain Trail Aspen Grove – Park City, UT

Rated as a world class mountain biking destination, Park City was another must-do on our mountain biking bucket list. It didn’t disappoint! Again, we were on a limited time schedule but the front desk clerk at the Sheraton Park City was a fellow mountain biker and happy to share trail info. Since we were too late to book a shuttle and bike lift service wasn’t available for our time frame, he recommended we ride Armstrong Trail to access Mid Mountain Trail, which links up with a variety of routes.

If you’re wanting to use mountain bike lift service while in Park City, check the local mountain websites for up to date info and plan ahead.

Armstrong Trail is a one way climb, pretty smooth with some easy switch backs and a few rocks scattered here and there along the trail. It’s at high elevation, routing through the trees for a mostly shaded ride. Elevation starts at just over 6,963 and ends at 8,221. If you’re not used to exercise at high elevation, allow yourself time to get acclimated and be sure to hydrate. There were quite a few bikers, hikers and joggers on Armstrong even for a slow week in Park City. It is a climb but it was a beautiful trail.

Mid Mountain Trail – Park City, UT

This section of Mid Mountain trail was a fun romp through aspen groves, across ski runs, through a few small rock gardens and included spectacular views of Park City.

Like Bend, this trail system is well marked. Be aware that trails are multi use with some being one direction only for cyclists.

Where We Stayed

The Sheraton Park City on Sidewinder Drive was what you would expect from a good Sheraton property. Nice ambience, friendly, helpful staff, very clean and chic, and last but certainly not least, comfortable beds. The restaurant on site was a good place to have a beer and enjoy outdoor patio seating. Shuttle service to Historic Main Street was a plus, especially considering our shuttle driver was a wealth of information about Park City including best places to dine. Safe storage for our bikes and onsite parking were much appreciated perks.

I highly recommend this time of year for Park city. It was not crowded and the weather was beautiful for mountain biking. Not hot, not cold. We were there September 1st and 2nd, the Tuesday and Wednesday prior to Labor Day weekend.

Our trip allowed for only one recon ride but it was well worth the stop. We’ll be back to explore more world class mountain biking in Park City.
